Slow motion- Slows down time in the scene at certain to points. This could be to show the people reactions or maybe to introduce people into the scene.
Accelerated-Speeds up time. For example shows a whole night out in just a minute or to, this is so the viewer doesn't become bored.
Simultaneous time- Things happening the same time. For example the "Fire engine scene" where on person screaming in a burning building and the fire brigade are on there way, and we see that its happening at the same time.
Compressed time- Compressed time is when you have a certain scene cut down to a short amount of time. Like "Accelerated" it stops the audience becoming bored but also a big amount of time reduced. We see this in the film "Rocky" where he is training and it's cut down but we see it's been a long time as he has grown a beard.
Flashback- Where it goes back to a certain scene in the film. This is usually to see and event with the viewer didn't quite see. Also in films like back to the future where it goes back in time

Chapter 3:Transtion Types L cuts/Split Cuts
L Cut-This is when someone talking to someone else and it cuts to the other persons reaction. If you didn't do this you would confuse the audience and it wouldn't look "Seemless". It's called an L cut as on the editing software used it looks/shows an L shape.
Jump Cut- Ump cuts are always obvious jumping from one time to the next. Audio stays consistant.
Wipe- Looks like the screen is turning a page in book. It turns the page to another setting and wipes out the old. It changes the location without the audienc ebeing confused. These sorts of cuts were very popular in the 80's and were in films such as StarWars, Sci-fi films.
Continuously- Continuous edits compresses real time. This is so the audience don't get lost. These cuts arn't in time their cut on the action so the audience are distracted and don't notice the cut.

Chaper 2: Editing Styles and conventions
Parallel editing (cross cutting) is the technique of alternating two or more scenes that often happen simultaneously but in different locations.
Point of view shot- Is a short film scene that showsthe characterbeing represented through thecamera.Itshowsthe reaction of thecharacterand there reaction.(There point of view)
Reverseshot- where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.
cutaways-It usually cutsbackto the first shot, but avoids a jump cuy.

The History and developments of post production
Post production is everything in and around film making. This includes in camera editing, following the action, multiple points of view, shot variation, film and video. These are just some of the examples which go into film making.
This includes tasks such as the editing of raw footage to cut scenes, insert transition effects, working with voice and sound actors, and dubbing, to name a few of the many pre-production tasks. Post-production is the third and final step in film creation
The post pruduction of the film usually takes alot longer then the actual filming. This is because the editing stage is very tedious and can take several months to complete.

Notes
Film and editing
The first edited piece was called "Life as a firemen".
The first ever editing machines were referred to as "sewing machines" The reason for this was not only did it look like a sewing machine but generally women use to use them. In this sexist day and age being an editer was a womans job and didn't seem like a particully important job in the film industry.
It takes about 8months to a year to edit a whole film. Generally films were and are still today 2 hours long and was made up of 5000 frames.
A term was made called "cutting seemless" This was introduced as films didn't seem to run naturally and we noticed the cuts. So these were introducedto let the film flow and for the audience to not notice the edits and cuts.
